Film Scanning

The best time to scan your film is at the time of developing. This is because the more film is handled, the more static it creates and with more static comes dust. When the film comes out of the Hostert dip and dunk processing machine, it is carefully wiped down then hung on racks for scanning. The scan operator will scan your film, adjusting for color and density to give you the best possible image from your film. After the film is scanned it goes to quality control. Each image is checked for quality, ensuring images we deliver are error free. Then a cd/dvd is burned and if requested, the files are sent via our upload service. We then package your film according to your preferences.

Please note that when you view your file properties it will show the compressed file size, however when the file is opened in photoshop, you will see the actual size of the image is what is indicated below. File size depends on the complexity of pixels in the image. For example, an image with a lot of white negative space will be smaller in compressed file size than an image that has little negative space.
