Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the scanning price include processing?

A: No. Each service is priced individually. We believe in fair pricing with consistent results. Processing film is one service, scanning is another and printing is yet another. We don’t charge for services that you don’t receive. Not all of our customers want their film scanned or printed. Some just want prints, others just want scans.  If your film comes out of the processor blank or some other mishap, we can then just charge you for the cost of processing and give you a credit on the scanning. When you order prints, we don’t charge you until we get a final print count. We feel that a la carte pricing keep our prices fair.

Q: What size are the Enhanced Scans?

A: 35mm film is scanned to 5035 x 3339 pixels and is saved as a jpeg file. When opened in Photoshop, the file is rendered at 48 mb.

Q: Do we scan 120 or 220?

A: Yes and the files are between 48 & 81 mb each, depending on 2 ¼ format size.

Q: Can I get the scans back saved as tiffs?

A: No, our system saves the scan as a JPG. When you receive your order, you can save your JPG files as Tiff files, PSD, or any other format.

Q: Is it all done in-house?

A: Yes

Q: How do I pay?

A: Prepay by check or credit card by phone or on file.

Q: How long does it take?

A: Once we have received a package, we’ll do our best to process and ship within two days. As our work load is constantly fluctuating, it may take us longer than two days to complete a customer’s order. In-house orders are typically turned around next day.

Q: Do you provide mail order service?

A: Yes we offer all of our services to clients all over the world.

Q: How do you ship?

A: We use USPS Priority Mail on a daily basis and UPS and Fed-X upon request.

Q: Do you provide mailers?

A: No, we are a small custom lab and USPS packing supplies are free! See our Shipping Guidelines for more information on how to package your film.
