The Fate of Tossed Negatives

Can we Toss the negatives?

It’s one of the many important questions we ask here, and if we forget to ask, we will always keep the negatives. In 2020, we had a collection of customer’s negatives that dated as far back as 10+ years. It was safe to say that we kept them even if we might never hear from you again. Because, of course, the day we decide to toss forgotten negatives, would become the day before their owner finally found the time to return our many calls (listed by date in red marker, in the upper corner of the invoice.)

Well anyways, these days we take measures to avoid that. It saves us time & resources.

What Happens to Tossed film?

After your film get proceed & scanned, it is transferred to its last tree. This is where your negatives are placed either on the “Toss” “Sleeve” or “Page” rack.

The “Toss” Rack is taken to the back, holepunched & hung up in date order. We will keep these till the next week to the day. Then that day gets shredded and is now done for.

If you decide to have us save your negatives for you, we will gladly do so. However, after 30 days, we will start migrating them to the toss pile, but not before we send one more “Last Chance Text” to give you an opportunity to arrange for a save extension or pick them up that day.
